Welcome everyone to the San Pedro High School Centennial Celebration
page.
San Pedro High School was founded in 1903. Plans are being made
for a spectacular series of events to commemorate our first century.
There will be a gala celebration on April 12, 2003.
This Centennial Celebration page will give you information about
our high school's 100th anniversary and hopefully, be a resource
for you to enjoy. If you happen to be related to, or know any graduate
of San Pedro High School from 1973, please check out our Missing
Classmates page to help us locate Ke-Alians for our 30 year
reunion. There will also be people listed on our Contact Page if
you want more information.
To really begin this page, here is a little secret. Anytime you
go back to the Home page of this site and double click anywhere
on the round San Pedro High School logo, you will be transported
to the San Pedro High School Web Site. The Web mistress of that
site, Debbie Ferguson, class of 1972, has provided great information
about many aspects of our school. A very good history of our school
can be viewed on that site, and current information and resources
can be found there too.
There will be activities at the current campus of the high school
located at 1001 W. 15th Street. Free tours, displays, and events
will highlight the history and current climate at our great school.
The Science building might be a new sight for some of our older
alumni. Don't forget to take a look at our new sports stadium. It
is the biggest change to the school since this campus was built
in 1936.
On Thursday April 10, 2003 there will ba a school wide open house
open to all.. The 100 Year Historical Video will be shown in the
Auditorium at 6:00 and 7:00 p.m. An exhibition of art will be in
the Small Gym from 6-8 p.m. Visit the Large Gym between 6-8 p.m.
to enjnoy a Dance-Drill Team Cheer Exhibition. The wonderful SPHS

On Saturday, April 12, 2003 there will be a gala celebration at
the Port of Los Angeles /San Pedro Hilton Hotel. This beautiful
modern hotel is located in an area that you might remember as being
part of the lower reservation of Fort MacArthur. Gone are the warehouses,
barracks, PX, and train tracks that supported the Army fort for
many years. Now there is a picturesque marina with a grand hotel
nestled among the masts of the many boats. A wonderful pathway near
the hotel and marina gives people who stroll along it a view of
the outer harbor, marina, hotel, Cabrillo Beach, and also the historic
Warehouse Number One that has been so important to our community.
The gala is scheduled to begin at 5:00 P.M. and will encompass
the entire hotel area. The gala will end at 11:00 P.M.
The Madeo Room, which is the main ballroom, will have entertainment
and dancing. The Wingtips, Jerry Butera, and Richard
Leach are scheduled to appear to provide great music and memories.
More entertainment is still being planned.
International hors d' oeuvres will be served at many stations throughout
the hotel. Plenty of no-host bars will be available.
Plans also include a car show located in a parking lot adjacent
to the marina.
Every decade of our history will be represented by a themed ballroom
or meeting room. Gala participants will be encouraged to visit every
decade and view the memorabilia and history that each site provides.
Alumni that graduated in that decade will host the themed rooms.
Meet old friends, revisit your past, make new friends, and share
your own stories.
The famed Pirate Boosters' trailer will be at the gala. This is
a favorite at football games, class reunions, and community events.
You can support our high school by purchasing fantastic items that
brings San Pedro High School home no matter where you live. The
Boosters at the trailer love to swap stories of glories and more
while helping not only the sports program, but also all programs
at San Pedro High School.
Ticket sales will end on April 1, 2003 and due to circumstances
beyond the Centennial Steering Committee's control, no tickets will
be sold at the door.
On April 2, 2003, the Centennial Celebration Steering Committee
announced that all tickets for the gala have been sold.
The Port of Los Angeles / San Pedro Hilton Hotel is offering a
very special room rate for the weekend of the gala. By calling the
hotel directly at 310-514-3344 and asking for the reservations department,
a single or double room can be reserved for $149.00 per night, plus
any taxes. Please mention the Centennial when reserving your room.
The Hotel's reservation office hours are between 8:30 A.M. and 5:00
P.M. Pacific time. This special room rate does not apply if reserving
a room via the 800 phone number reservation system or the internet.
